At a glance

Use this guide when

Structuring upfront deposits, progress billing milestones, or stage payments on large contracting jobs.

Best practice

Require 30–50% upfront deposits on projects requiring significant material procurement.

Watch for

Platform application fees are allocated proportionally across each installment relative to total scope.

01

Structure milestone installments

  1. When creating a quote or invoice, select "Milestone / Stage Payments".
  2. Add stages (e.g. 33% Deposit on Approval, 33% Rough-in Passed, 34% Final Completion).
  3. Trigger each installment invoice as the corresponding job phase is completed.
02

Proportional fee allocation across installments

Platform fees are allocated proportionally across each installment relative to the total eligible service subtotal. This ensures that installment splits always sum to the exact fee basis when the invoice is paid in full.

Completion check

Confirm before moving on

Use these checks to make sure the dashboard and the real-world workflow agree.

  • Milestone payment stages and trigger conditions are defined.
  • Deposit invoice is issued and collected before major work begins.
  • Subsequent progress invoices unlock as project milestones are completed.

Troubleshooting

When the workflow doesn’t look right

Customer wants to pay an installment early.
